The Power of Programs: Why it’s Better to Sell Coaching Programs than Coaching Sessions

business Aug 16, 2016

Are you a coach or other service-based biz owner who sells your services by the session?

Are you fed up with chasing your clients to get paid?

Are you sick of having to track down your clients to book their next session?

If you haven’t transitioned yet to offering programs/packages instead of individual sessions, you’re not only creating more of a headache for yourself than necessary, but you’re also leaving lots of money on the table.

HERE ARE MY TOP REASONS WHY IT’S BETTER TO SELL COACHING PROGRAMS THAN COACHING SESSIONS:

1. Attract More Clients

Most people don’t want to buy “coaching” or “therapy” (or whatever the service is that you provide). What they want to buy is a solution to the problem that they find themselves in. Your program transforms what you do into a step-by-step system that shows your ideal clients exactly how you will help them solve their problem when they work with you.

2. Be Perceived as More Credible

Your program positions you as an expert & makes you appear more credible and trustworthy. You are someone who has “figured it out” & created a solution, a.k.a your program!

3. Stand Out From the Crowd

There’s a lot of “experts” out there who sell sessions. Your program makes you one-of-a-kind. You created it, so even though there might be others who offer the same service, nobody does what you do in exactly the same way.

4. Paint a Clearer Picture for Prospective Clients

Your program paints a clear picture for prospective clients about what it would look like to work with you. A confused mind always says “no”, so with the extra clarity prospective clients have, you will likely start hearing more “yeses”.

5. Be More Focused

Your program helps YOU stay focused. Instead of being scattered & confused about your offerings, you can now build your offerings around your program. Kind of like branches sprouting from a tree.

6. Stop Chasing Clients

With your program, there’s no chasing clients to pay or book their next session. They simply pay upfront or enroll into a payment plan, where they are automatically charged on a specific day each month. In terms of booking sessions, they will either have a set number of prescheduled sessions, or a bank of sessions that they can schedule as needed.

7. Be Paid More

Your program increases your value, credibility and trustworthiness, and therefor allows you to increase your prices to match. Your program also makes it easier to be paid more because when potential clients understand that you have a proven system to help them achieve the results they desire, they will be willing to invest more.

8. Save Time

Instead of randomly helping anyone with anything, your program allows you to systematize your approach and save time. Nope, I’m not encouraging you to embrace a “cookie cutter” approach, so don’t throw apples at me just yet.

What I’m encouraging you to do is create systems and processes in your business so you’re not recreating the wheel every time you work with someone. Your program helps you do this, while at the same time, customizing your approach (within the realm of what your program offers) to each client.

9. Become Better at What You Do

Your program helps you become better at what you do because it requires you to deep-dive into your specific process and topic with client after client. You’re no longer skimming the surface of your work. You will gain deep familiarity and wisdom at your trade, as you hone in your skills, through your program, with each client.
